It's a bit crazy to go on outings with all our little ones these days. We can pretty much forget about coordinating with anyone else. Fortunately, the whole family is undaunted by such challenges! This weekend we loaded everyone up and went for a short hike with our friends at a lake up near Mt. Hood. It was a perfect day. 70 degrees and sunny. Great views of the mountain.
Oskar had his two buddies Kaj-Riis and Isaak 'hiking' with him. He could not have been more fired up. The gals are 31/2 months and getting more robust everyday. They take the hikes a little slower - time to enjoy the scenery and the antics of their brother. I try really hard to just be in the moment and enjoy them as babies - but I admit that I can't wait to see them running amuck with Oskar in the woods.
As most of you know, it was really hard for us to leave the beautiful place we called home for 10 years in Humboldt County. We love our new home in Portland - but I miss our friends terribly. We have had a few visits from old friends and it has been the best. Of course - this my shameless attempt to get everyone to visit!
As the birth of the Liv and Ren drew closer I was missing the support of my girlfriends and community more than ever.
In true girl power fashion my gals Nicole, Saremy and little Taylor Jane made the long trek from Humboldt to give us a baby shower. It's been months now since the babes were born but I am still so touched that they were here to support us. Thanks to everyone who could not be here - we felt the love from far away.Next Susan and Simon came up from Santa Cruz for a few days. Susan was on fire. One evening she made us dinner, then banana bread - then a freakin apple pie! She is amazing.
Pete, Tanya and the new little beauty Liliana came from Bend to help and visit. Pete is the best playmate for Oskar and Tanya was always right there with a extra set of calming hands. I feel really lucky that we have the chance to raise our girls together.
Amy, Chloe and Conrad came up over the 4th of July. It was so great to see the kids play together and to feel like we're not so far away. My dear friend Amy always has great words of wisdom on traveling the path of parenthood.
You are all the greatest gift to my girls. Keep the visits coming!
